How to write to Thickened Ground Notes: corrections, source suggestions and what the desk can and cannot answer.

The address

Write to contact@thickenedtailings.com. It is the only address of the desk, it reaches the editorial mailbox directly, and it is the same address printed in the footer of every page.

What to send

Corrections are the most valuable mail: quote the sentence, name the page, and give your source, ideally with the chapter, principle or requirement number the way the notes themselves cite. Source suggestions are welcome too, particularly public documents that update or correct the two the site stands on. A reader who thinks a note answers its question badly should say so; the desk rewrites its own sentences in public when the argument holds, under the rules of the editorial policy page.

What the desk cannot answer

The desk does not provide engineering advice, does not assess specific facilities, companies or investments, and does not act as a referral service to consultants. Mail asking for those things receives a short, honest refusal rather than a confident improvisation, because a made-up answer from a reading guide would be worse than none.

Response and records

The desk reads everything and replies to mail that needs a reply, usually within a few working days; there is no staff beyond the desk, so patience is appreciated. Correspondence is kept only as long as needed to handle the matter, and the privacy page says exactly what that means.
